Day 1 highlights:
We start with an introduction to International Cat Care (iCatCare)’s Cat Friendly Principles from Claire Bessant and a deep dive into the importance of understanding cats both as an individual and as a species from Dr Sarah Ellis.
Once the cat has been placed front and centre, the day continues with Vicky Halls talking about the bigger picture – what happens when cat populations increase and problems arise, both for humans and for cats?
This question is the focus for the rest of Day 1, with Harry Eckman, Gemma Ma and Elly Hiby exploring how we find solutions through strategic planning, effective data collection and analysis. Fiona Woodhouse then looks at what good cat population management looks like and Sofia Rois shares her experience of a successful TNR project.
Day 1 concludes with a panel discussion, chaired by Vicky Halls with Kim Horsford, Adelle Goodman, Harry Eckman and Nathalie Dowgray, on the complexity of decision-making within TNR programmes.
