Over his decade long career, Vincent van Gogh created with astonishing intensity and originality.
He created more than 35 self-portraits in a period of just over 3 moths, meaning he produced almost one a month.
He painted his 1889 “Self-Portrait” in one sitting and felt the work captured his “true character.”
