CATNAP and INDIGO PARK: The Horror Collaboration Shock
Today saw the completely free release of the new Mascot Horror game, Indigo Park Chapter 1. First impressions are very encouraging, and we may be lucky enough to find the new Mascot Horror franchise among familiar favorites.
We find ourselves in an abandoned amusement park and interacting with the main mascot, Rambly the raccoon. Admittedly, he's not a 3D model like in FNAF, but a cartoon version that can move around on TV screens. I thought it was a great idea to have the character travel with us without having to animate a 3D model.
The best thing about the game is its atmosphere and mood, and this proves once again how important it is to have great art design and atmosphere in the environment of Mascot Horror games. There are many Mascot Horror games out there, but some of them lack detail in the environments and the overall feel of the game feels very empty because of it.
Indigo Park looks detailed and vibrant despite all the destruction and ruins. There are some really tense moments and frightening chase sequences in the game, and overall I was impressed, and this is probably the best new project for Mascot Horror in recent memory. The weakest part of the game was that some of the 3D models lacked detail, especially the lion. Hopefully they'll get a little better in the next chapters, but nonetheless, I can't wait to see where Rumbley takes us next!
