The combo formed by Above the Tree & Drum Ensemble du Beat returns with the new album "Afrofulu". Exactly ten years after the release of the first full-length album "Cave_Man," a new milestone is added to the distinctive artistic journey of Marco Bernacchia (Above the Tree, Stregoni) and Edoardo Grisogani (Drum Ensemble du Beat, Tetuan).
"Afrofulu" is released digitally and on CD (jewel box and deluxe).
In "Afrofulu," Above the Tree has fun donning the role of artistic producer by assembling an album from recordings of beats and rhythms that Edoardo Grisogani and Luca Rizzoli made at NuFabric Studio in Fermo. Marco Bernacchia transforms, edits, and remixes the recordings provided by his comrades, achieving a contemporary sound that moves between wild electronics, Afrobeat, and tropical psychedelia. In this pan-metropolitan rhythmic texture, he also introduces vocal samples collected from the Afro tradition, traditional songs of sub-Saharan peoples, and excerpts from the speeches of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King that magically enrich the final result.
