Hiking 80 Miles on the Tour Matterhorn Loop
We spent 8 days hiking the 80-mile Tour Matterhorn loop. I hope this video gives you some general impressions from the tour. I think it's an awesome loop if you like uncrowded trails and alpine terrain in one of the most beautiful places of the west alps but good weather conditions and very good fitness is necessary. If you plan on doing the loop with a tent, there are some spots along the way but you need to stay on high altitude wich is also only possible in good weather conditions and you need to pack a lot of food, because of the very few supermarkets along the way. I would recommend a mix between camping and sleeping in huts or hotels, just as we did. This allows you to carry a lighter backpack and save more energy for the difficult parts of the trail.
