In 2007, Yasmine White, our Founder and CEO, started Voices Together out of her home, working with one group of adults in Chapel Hill, providing music therapy. There were very few services locally for these adults, and their parents and family members wanted them to be able to connect better with their peers, to advocate for themselves, and to thrive in the community; she wanted that, too.
To make that possible, Yasmine developed a specialized music therapy intervention that offered tools to help each person to immediately feel successful and confident in connecting with others. Connecting with others, as you know, is nothing short of survival for all of us.
We're excited that we’ve grown so much over the past 15 years. We’ve gone from serving one group of 8 teens and adults to now serving over 1,000 children, teens, and adults each year in 20 counties across North Carolina. We continue to grow because the need is vast.
Today, we're inviting you to become a part of this movement to make sure that every child, teen and adult is seen, validated, and has the opportunity to live a self-fulfilled life.
