The Enzoni was created by Barman Vincenzo Errico while working at the legendary NYC bar Milk & Honey. Errico was an Italian bartender who Sasha Petraske (founder and owner of Milk & Honey) met while he was in England opening the London arm of his bar and asked Errico to join him at his flagship bar in New York. Errico had gone to London from Naples in 1999 looking for opportunity and luckily for him fell into a job where he was trained by legendary English barman Dick Bradsell. If you want to see more on Bradsell check out our Bramble episode.

Errico created this drink in 2003 and it is a play on a Negroni and also a traditional Gin Sour. I wish I could tell you more about it's creation but with modern classics sometimes theres not that much there. What I will tell you though is that it's delicious.

A couple of notes on the video: First off if you have big Rock Ice on hand it's best to serve this on a big rock. At the time that we shot I didn't have rock Ice on hand so I used cubed, which is fine, but it is best on a rock. Also my use of green grapes in the video is purely preference. When this drink was created it was done with Red Grapes.
Also I like the little pieces of grapes in my drink so I usually don't double strain this one, but if you want a cleaner more elegant version of this drink muddle lightly to express the juice but not shred the grape and definitely double strain. Also while talking about big ice, you can shake this one on a big rock if you want to get it super cold with a long hard shake without adding too much dilution.
