Lab10 Map Design in
Objectives:
• Learn how to create static maps in ArcGIS Pro.
Data:
• Download population data at the state level and the county level from ArcGIS Pro living atlas.
• Download mass shooting 2019 (author by weixx) points from ArcGIS Pro All portals.
Steps:
1. Create a new project and, and export the following data into the project geodatabase:
a. The mass shootings in VA;
b. The total population of all counties in VA;
c. All states in the USA.
2. Create the following visualizations:
a. A locator map showing the location of VA in the USA;
b. A thematic map showing the population density and the number of injuries in VA counties;
c. A calendar heat chart shows the number of injuries.
3. Create a layout, including the following map elements:
a. A title
b. The locator map
c. The thematic map with legend, scale bar, and direction;
d. The calendar heat chart
e. Data source and projection info.
4. Export the layout as a PDF file.
