The Zaanse Schans is a neighborhood in the Dutch town of Zaandam, near Amsterdam. Historic windmills and distinctive green wooden houses were relocated here to recreate the look of an 18th/19th-century village.

You can see the following windmills: "De Kat", "De Gekroonde Poelenburg", "De Zoeker", "Het Jonge Schaap", "De Bonte Hen", "De Os", "Het Klaverblad", "De Bleeke Dood", "De Ooievaar", you can read all about them here https://www.dezaanseschans.nl

Artisan workshops demonstrate rare handicrafts such as wooden clog carving, barrel making and pewter casting. Learn all about the typical Dutch delicacies at Catharina Hoeve, a replica of a traditional farm from Oostzaan. My favourite stop is the bakery Museum de Gecroonde Duyvekater where they sell bread and cookies.
