On 10th avenue in front of VGH, you may notice a particular feature of the bike lane and it's by design. We talked with Jeff Leigh, president of HUB Cycling here in Vancouver. We talked about what bike focused infrastructure he is most proud of when it comes to Vancouver.
It turns out that rounded curb has many purposes, it allows emergency vehicle to bypass traffic jams in front of a hospital and encourages more cyclists to use the bike lane without feeling blocked in. A strong use case where city planning, engineering and a bike lane come together to make a smarter street.
