ruairi dx - Grey
Ruairi Dx is a San Francisco based electronic music producer originally from Slough, UK. Having spent his teenage years playing guitar in local post-hardcore outfits of debatable quality, Ruairi started making electronic music in 2015 while living in Hamburg, Germany. His music has been described as “rich” and “generously seasoned” and his debut EP, Graves, was released in May 2018, combining instrumental hip hop beats with future bass and UK garage influences. Tracks from Graves EP went on to be featured on Silly Syl Radio, Beast Koast and Goldswing Music. Ruairi's follow-up, 'Five Thousand', was featured on Complexion's The Future Beats Show and Smile High Radio, and he has since released singles with Smile High's record label in San Jose, as well as Phuture Collective in Portland. Ruairi's second EP, Waiting For Bad News, is an exploration of uncertainty and dread; lead singles Grey and Bruno will release October 5th and 26th respectively, while the full record lands November 16th.
Ruairi wrote the Waiting For Bad News EP after a 6 month adventure he and his girlfriend and spent in and out of hospital. Despite over half a dozen ER visits in the middle of the night, it took the full 6 months to get her a proper diagnosis. The record is built on the unique feeling of sitting in a plastic chair at 4AM waiting for someone to just tell them what was going on, but equally knowing that there was no chance of good news; whatever they would be told would just be the next step in a thoroughly shit process.
