This is a recording of Rethink Real Talk: Ask a Pelvic Floor Expert, an episode of Rethink's virtual live Q&A series, Ask An Expert, that helps you get straight to the source.*

This is an opportunity to get answers to some of the burning questions you and other young women in the community might have. Our goal is to help you feel more empowered during this time of uncertainty.

Since starting breast cancer treatment have you been experiencing more: ⁣
• Urinary problems, like UTIs and bladder infections? ⁣
• Vaginal dryness and painful sex? ⁣
• General pelvic pain and tightness? ⁣

The thing is, you’re not alone. In fact, 50 to 70% of people will experience issues like these after starting treatment. ⁣Despite this being such a common concern, it’s a topic that is not often addressed in general care. ⁣

That’s why for this month's Rethink Real Talk, we recruited Katie Hauck, a registered physiotherapist with a special interest in the impact of cancer treatment on pelvic health. She comes to us from Toronto Physiotherapy and knows a thing or two on how common cancer treatments can impact one’s bladder, bowel and sexual health. Lucky for us, Katie is passionate about sharing her knowledge and delving into traditionally uncomfortable yet significant health topics.* ⁣

The views and opinions expressed by our experts do not necessarily reflect the position of Rethink Breast Cancer.

*This is not a replacement for medical advice or regular check-ins with your healthcare team (your cancer case is unique and so are you 😉).
