Being with an abuser means being invisible yet put on the spot daily. They don’t know you. They needed to make you feel wrong or that you shouldn’t be you. Just like in childhood.
When we live in constant accusations, we inevitably become them -just like childhood.
It takes a long time after it’s over to dig ourselves out from under them. Abusers know how to make ourselves lose touch with our worth. Just like in childhood.
The last part of healing and coming back to ourselves, after we clean the muck off, is a realization.
They were the lucky ones, not us. That was how they took away our power, making us feel like we should have been grateful. Just like in childhood.
They had no idea and still have no idea of what they had and what they lost - but we do now, finally. Good love is hard to find.. #tompetty #yougotlucky #childhoodtrauma #domesticviolence #abuse #worth
