Winona is one of the best characters for beginners in Don't Starve Together because of her numerous advantages and few disadvantages. One of her advantages is her ribbon, which can be used to build machines and also to repair clothing (such as berets or warm clothes), thermal stones, and even Don't Starve Together boats.
Another great advantage is that she can dodge Charlie's first hit, allowing her to take less damage from the darkness when dodging the first attack. She also has very helpful machines, such as a spotlight that illuminates a specific area and her catapults, which serve not only as defense against creatures but also to kill various bosses and create different meat and resource farms.
Among other interesting facts, Winona works in a Voxola factory (a company founded by Wagstaff) and is also Charlie's older sister. That's why she can dodge Charlie's first attack.

Winona's ability to dodge Charlie's hit every time she enters the light can save you from a night in the dark.
Winona's catapults are very good for farming, boss fights (Bee Queen, Dragonfly, Toadstool, etc.), and defending against wolves. Therefore, it's worth having a set of 6 to 8 catapults near your base.
Gem generators are better because they last longer, and gems aren't as hard to obtain from cave earthquakes.
Although she crafts more slowly when she's at 50 or less hunger, this is Winona's only drawback, making her one of the best characters for beginners.
