In this video, I'll show you step by step how to update a PlayStation 4 console with a broken blu-ray drive to firmware 9.00. Due to technical issues, when trying to update a PS4 with a broken drive, the console gives error SU-42118-6. At the end of April 2022, the LightningMods developer created a method to solve this error. It works on firmware: 5.03 / 6.20 / 6.72 / 7.00 / 7.01/ 7.02/ 7.50 / 7.51 / 7.55. A number of other versions may also be able to be updated, but for now it's better not to risk it. You will only need a flash drive in FAT32 or exFAT format and several official files, including the NoBD Updater program.
