In today's video, we are going to talk about the differences between the Autobrake System and the Anti-skid System.
Some Pilots think that these two systems are actually the same, but this is not true.
The Autobrake System provides automatic braking upon landing or during take-off at a constant deceleration ratio.
Most of the Airliners are equipped with an Autobrake selector that allows you to set the Autobrake system to different settings.
If you use the Reversers during the landing roll out the Autobrake system will release the brake pressure in order to maintain a constant deceleration rate. This is done in order to lower the temperature on the brakes.
The Anti-skid System is a protection that you have against wheels skidding, locked wheels, and so on.
This system will make sure that the brake pressure is released when a skidding or a locked wheel is detected.
As you can see these two systems work together but have different duties.
