Wisdom Teeth. Do We Extract Before Invisalign?
There seems to be a debate amongst the general public as to the need for wisdom teeth removal prior to teeth straightening.
Firstly, no two patients are the same, and all treatment plans should be customized to treat the individual and their unique circumstances.
In general, though, we don’t typically require wisdom teeth to be removed prior to Invisalign.
In fact, there are many instances where we don’t recommend wisdom teeth removal even after Invisalign.
Does that mean we think it’s bad to take wisdom teeth out?
Not at all.
Again, every case is different.
An argument can be made in this particular case (in the video) that the patient may be better off extracting the wisdom teeth so that the second molars are not negatively impacted by their presence.
