The winds are blowing here in California so naturally the power is turned off in some places in order to prevent fires. It seems like a better solution would be to fix the power grid infrastructure. We think some of the billions of dollars Gavin Newsom is spending on failing programs and lawsuits against his political enemies could be used for this purpose.

California used to be a model for the rest of the country, but now we’ve become the poster child for what not to do. Homelessness has become a lucrative industry. Special interests dominate politics. And divisive issues are used as weapons in the culture war to divide us.

Despite our political cynicism we think there is hope on the horizon. We may have reached the limit on how much money can be spent on a political campaign. The Democrats spent $2 billion on their Presidential campaign only to have Harris lose. They continue to make excuses, but no amount of money can make people feel better about the economy or our government institutions if their experience and common sense tell them not to. Maybe this hard lesson will force them to pay more attention to their constituents.

In the meantime let’s not wait around and just hope for change. Join the Independent movement and start supporting good Independent candidates and third parties. Especially if their campaign promise is “We’ll Keep the Power On!”
