A strain gage in a load cell is a critical component that measures deformation (strain) in the structure of the load cell when a force or load is applied. The strain gage plays a key role in load cells convert force, weight, or tension, into an electrical signal. Scott Dunne explains the components of the strain gage, and what each component does.
