OPERATION DERAILED PART 2
Following the first phase of Operation Derailed the Livonia Defence Force (LDF) reclaimed control of a number of towns along the northern flank of FOB Lamprey and set up a blocking force east of the enemy occupied city of Topolin, this was two weeks ago.
During these two weeks there have been two factors delaying an attack on Topolin and driving the Livionia National Militia (LMN) out of the region, the weather and our Command.
Despite intermittent breaks in the rain it refuses to cease entirely and as such much of the Air Force has still been grounded, coupled with this the ground in the region has effectively become a bog meaning that Tanks are unable to operate effectively without being stuck in the mud.
Local government leaders have been pleading with the LDF to manage our assault on the city of Topolin with care due to the high level of civillian populace within the town, the LMN has effectively turned this city seize into a mass-hostage situation limiting our ability to bring mass-firepower to bear without risking civillian lives.
Two days ago Command, in their infinite wisdom, made the radical decision to clear the Air Force to return to the skies and authorsied a leaflet drop over the city, advising all civillians inside to seek shelther within their homes or to try and flee the city where possible and that the LDF would soon arrive to re-take the city. This move, unsurprisingly has warned the enemy of our incoming attack and it is expected that they've doubled all efforts to increase defences both within and outside the city.
To counteract the increase in enemy defences Command has authorised the use of 2x Rotary-Wing CAS elements to be attached to Panther Infantry Platoon to be used as both an Anti-Tank & Anti-Personnel role to clear the streets of Topolin and allow the Infantry to do what they best, kick down doors and take down bad guys.
A recon platoon, with attached recon air elements were dispatched yesterday ahead of Panther Platoon to attempt to scout as much of the town as they could to assist. Elements on the ground met stiff resistance immediately upon leaving their staging area however, aerial recon had more luck south of the river however encountered a number of AA cannons when attempting to move north before RTB'ing. Now that the enemy has seen our Air Force be put to work it is expected that they'll retalitate with an increase in AA assests.
The stage has been set but make no mistake, you shall be entering a hostile city with a large civilian presence and even larger presence of heavily supported mechanized enemy. Use you air assets wisely and take care of your corners as you seize a number of key positions within the city and bring order to chaos in Topolin.
TASKING
Seizing Topolin's Gas Station to allow further reinforcements & supplies to support your assault.
Seizing the enemy's forward barracks.
Seizing a warehouse suspected of housing munitions being brought in via rail.
Securing a crossing over the river.
Locating and capturing the enemy's local HQ within the City.
ENEMY COMPOSITION
Livonian militants are fighting for independence in the region after LDF became a NATO member to the dismay of locals, who have very mixed opinions on the membership. They have mix-match European and Russian infantry gear and armour from the surounding regions.
