The word trap began to sound in the late nineties through the Dungeon Family collective. However, to understand the birth of trap music we have to go back to the origin of hip hop and the parties that were celebrated in the Bronx in the seventies, with DJ's and MC's such as Afrika Bambaataa, Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash and others who rapped over mixed beats. After leaving the ghetto and being marketed as music in the eighties, groups like Public Enemy, Rakim, KRS-One or Native Tongues, known as the New School, emerge, rapping a street poetic of social revival.
Later, in the nineties, musicians such as NWA, UGK, Three 6 Mafia, Master P, Dr. Dre or Ice-T, among others, began to use what has been called gangsta rap to talk about the violent lifestyle in disadvantaged areas of North American cities, leaving aside the most political and poetic discourses of early rap. The transformation of the genre extends to the Mystic Stylez (1995) of Three 6 Mafia until it reaches Gucci Mane and his Trap House (2005).
