Today with CS2 if you wanna do stretched res i would recommend forcing wayland on the sdl driver for CS2, you can then do stretched res in the game settings without problems but you will lose the steam overlay as valve havent switch their steam client over to wayland yet.
Do this launch command to force it SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER=wayland %command%
