Dynamic routing is typically used in larger networks. You can see how to configure it here using the example of OSPF in Cisco Packet Tracer.
Dynamic routing offers several advantages over static routing. Only those networks that are to participate in dynamic routing are configured on the router, and the associated information is distributed automatically. This means that you no longer have to configure each destination network individually on each router, as is the case with static routing. The dynamic routing protocol distributes information about the accessible subnets throughout the network, and each router calculates the optimal path to the respective destination network. If a connection fails or a new one is added, the network automatically reacts to this change and switches to an alternative path. This makes network outages easy to avoid.
