Zoomdata Derived Fields for deeper insights and greater user independence
Derived fields were available in version 2.6 as an administrator-only feature, which means that administrators could define new fields for end users when they defined data sources. New in Zoomdata version 3.7, business users can dynamically create their own derived fields as they work on their dashboards. With derived fields, non-technical users can create higher-value data elements, perform conversions, and make data enrichments. For example, text fields can be combined, parsed, or transformed into new fields, and new row-based metrics can be defined and calculated on-the-fly.
Standard functions for derived fields include arithmetic, logical, conditional, numerical, relational, text, and time functions. Also new in LTS version 3.7 are custom functions (admin-defined functions) that allow administrators to extend the list of available functions that can be used to create derived fields beyond the standard functions listed above. Derived field functionality is now available for almost all Zoomdata connectors and chart types, including newly added support for histogram and box plot charts. Admin-defined functions are available for most connectors that use SQL.
