Noroi (2005) - Japanese Movie Review
Erik, the Asian Movie Enthusiast presents:
A review of “Noroi” (aka “The Curse”), a Japanese documentary-style horror film from 2005 that was directed by Koji Shiraishi.
The story follows a reporter who investigates a series of strange events and deaths that seem to be connected to one another. The entire film is a compilation of video clips that are linked by the legend of a demonic entity named Kagutaba. The premise is that a journalist filmed his own footage by interviewing people associated with the demonic rituals associated with Kagutaba, then compiled footage from other sources that link with his research. This is an extremely effective, intelligent method to scare the crap out of viewers by using the viewer’s memory against themselves.
Very creepy stuff. A must watch.
