The Unexpected Twist: Live performance at a Las Vegas wedding!
#deluca2277 #weddingband #september
This is a perfect example of doing a high end gig and the band avoiding having a "train wreck" in the beginning of a song. Here, We were starting the song "September by Earth, Wind & Fire" but the guitar player started playing the intro line to "Celebration by Kool & The Gang". You can see by the look on my face that I was like ok what's happening here and I started looking around to see if anyone else noticed it so I went by my simple rules...
1. When in doubt, lay out.
2. Wait until I see what the rest of the band was gonna do.
Luckily, everyone else came in with the right song and all was well after that.
Lesson Here: Always pay attention to what the rest of the band is doing and be prepared to be flexible. I was ready to play either song but I just wanted to see what the rest of band was gonna do.
