HTML for beginners 02: What are HTML Tags and HTML Elements?
Hi there and welcome! 😊 In this video, we will explain to you what are HTML tags and HTML elements.
⚠️ NOTE: Special characters are not allowed here in description so we will use words like less than sign, greater than sign instead.
If you surround letter or word with less than and greater than sign you will get start HTML tag. Simple as that! If you surround letter or word with less than sign, forward slash and greater than sign you will get end HTML tag. So, two basic types of HTML tags are start and end HTML tags.
If you surround some content with start HTML tag and end HTML tag you will get HTML element. There is one more type of HTML element, known as empty or self closing HTML element that contains just one HTML tag. Structure of empty HTML element looks like this: less than sign, than some content (usually word), forward slash, and greater than sign.
Now question is, why are important HTML tags and HTML elements? As we said we use HTML tags to create HTML elements, and we use HTML elements to build web pages. Web page is nothing more than set of HTML elements. For example, if we want to create button in our web page we will use button HTML element. Or, if we want to create input field in our web page we will use input HTML element.
