Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata + Beautiful Paintings . Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" was composed in 1801 at the time Beethoven was beginning to lose his hearing. The nickname "Moonlight Sonata’" came about 30 years after its composition. The Romantic poet Rellstab conjured up the image in a review - which subsequently stuck to the work - of the dreamy first movement being like “a boat floating in the moonlight on Switzerland’s Lake Lucerne”. To make this video, I searched for classical paintings of moonlight with a sense of stillness and added my recording of the first movement. #beethoven #sonata #classicalmusic
