Bird's eye view.
In 2017 I published the first attempt of a bird's eye view video on a roller skate technique. The video is named the Funky Strut.
At that point, it was a longstanding idea that never came to light, because I did not have the right tools and circumstances to bring it to realisation.
I know it's crazy, but today I am very proud of the process and the result of that 1 minute and 48 seconds video. It stands for so much more than just that shot. Too much to fully elaborate on, for now.
But the short story is this:
The inspiration came from a pencil drawing which - in bird's eye view - displays a situation where an aggressor's attack is being redirected by the defense, with bringing the elbow to and across the centerline (while shifting the body sideways as a whole), before a counterpunch.
At the time, I had no idea that very first look punched a hole in my perception on life, art and motion.
41 years later, I still have the drawing, I still look at it every now and then and it still sparks energy and creativity.
It's never too late to grow up, so let me just postpone that for a little bit and keep the soulful kidness inside me playing for a while.👊🏾
