Lightroom Photo print templates
When taking photographs we often look to create our compositions in the viewfinder, but we might want to consider paying attention to how the image will look in standard photographic print sizes?
Cameras capture images in an approximately 3:2 ratio. This denotes the extended side as 1.5 times as long as the shorter side. For this reason the 4 inch by 6 inch print became the print size of choice for the 35mm full frame.
Unfortunately the ratios are not the same for all standard photographic print sizes and this requires that image will be cropped when using other standard photographic process print sizes.
Lightroom 3.0 has a great cropping feature. But there is also a new Print Module feature that allows you to print to a JPEG file format. This makes laying out images or multiple images on a page in the standard photographic print sizes really easy.
So if your shooting or compositing images for these sizes where enlargements are likely, you will need to plan on leaving some additional room on the long side of your image so that important bits and pieces are not cropped out of the image.
