Is a “weak core” really the reason for your low back pain? I doubt it!
.
❌ Many times we hear the need to get a stronger core for low back pain relief. This has been preached for as long as low back pain has existed and exercise in general has its merits for low back pain. However is it always because the core is “weak”? I would say no…. And here’s why!
.
🔑 The key here is to understand that something can be strong but not functioning properly. The example I provide in this video shows if I hurt my elbow and it remained bent for a long period of time and was restricted. If I went to PT or Chiro and all they did was strengthen my arm in the range that it had, yes I have a stronger arm but that same restriction remains. The root of the issue was never addressed! This happens ALL OF THE TIME in individuals with low back pain. Being told it’s always due to “weakness” is a fallacy, otherwise elite level weightlifters wouldn’t be able to get low back pain, but they do and they are in my program. You need to step back and look at the big picture and don’t get totally sold to the “weak core” concept otherwise you may find yourself dealing with unresolved low back issues! Now let’s fix your low back!
