BEGINNER watch terms you NEED to know!
Here is a quick guide to some of the basic watch terms and terminology for those just getting into watches.
We explain some of the watch terms you will come across.
Bezel - The outer ring of the watch case. It can be made of steel, aluminum, ceramic and sapphire crystal to name a few. On a dive watch it will rotate unidirectional counterclockwise so the the diver can measure the time the have been under water...or so you can time your 🍔 on the grill.
Lume - The glow in the dark paint, superluminova, that is used so a watch can be seen in low light. If you are familiar with Farr and Swit, you know we are #lume nuts!
Crystal or Glass - Hardened glass and Sapphire Crystal will be scratch resistant. The glass shape can differ, be domed or flat.
Exhibition Caseback - A see through back of the watch that let's you see the movement.
