Hello everyone! Welcome to another video in our AWS course. Today we're going to dive into an essential topic for any AWS user: EC2 instance types. We know choosing the right instance can be a challenge, so in this video, we'll break down each of the components that make these instances unique. We'll talk about the different instance families, such as t, m, c, r, x, p, g, and z, and understand what they mean and what types of workloads they're best suited for.

In addition, we'll explore the generations of EC2 instances, from the earliest to the most recent, and I'll show you how each generation has improved in terms of performance and efficiency. We'll look at specific examples and discuss the improvements in hardware and networking capabilities that AWS has implemented with each new generation. We'll also cover additional features such as NVMe storage (d), enhanced networking (n), AMD processors (a), ARM Graviton-based processors (g), and I/O-optimized instances (i).

Finally, we'll break down the different instance sizes, from nano to 8xlarge, so you can better understand the capabilities each offers and how they fit your specific needs.
