The tripod comes in a heavy duty nylon canvas bag with an adjustable shoulder strap. You’ll also receive a set of instructions, an allen wrench and extra ball head mounting screw. This tripod is constructed from a lightweight, durable aluminum alloy and weighs just under 3 lbs. The tripod measures about 14.5” when folded up. The tripod comes pre-fitted with a ball head mount. Its fully opened height is about 47 inches but extending the center column increase sthe final height to about 60” or 5’.
The camera attaches to the ball head mount via a screw down quick release flat plate. This is a 1-3/4” square plate with a standard 1/4” mounting screw. Once attached to the mounting platform, the plate is fixed and cannot pan side to side. The panning motion of this ball head is very smooth and even allowing you to take cinematic movie shots and panoramic photos. The vertical notch on the side of the ball head is for taking vertical or portrait style shots. The center column can also be reversed on this tripod for taking macro and low to the ground photography. In addition, you can remove on of the tripod’s legs that is marked at the top to use as a monopod in conjunction with the center column. The max height for the monopod is just over 5 ‘.
Overall, this tripod is a very nice value for all the features it has. The construction is decent, though the plastic parts feel a bit cheap. It does, however, work great for stabilizing your shoots for photos or videos and it’s lightweight and compact so ideal for travel.
