Let’s sew a narrow hem in 5 steps. You’ve seen that tiny hem (1/4” wide or less) on some of your quality ready-to-wear clothes. Yep, that’s the hem I’m referring to.
Did you know you can duplicate the narrow hem that manufacturers have specialized industrial sewing machines to do? Yes, as a home sewer, you can sew a narrow hem that looks just as professional as ready-to-wear.
Let me warn you in advance, while you can do this in 5 steps, there is some back & forth from sewing machine to ironing board. And as you get better & better at sewing narrow hems, you may find you can skip a step or two.
And as with most sewing techniques, there’s more than one way to do this. So, feel free to make it your own.
