AOC's Fundraising Power Play
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently contributed $260,000 to the Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Program, an initiative designed to register voters and preserve voting integrity. It’s also a rainy day fund for the inevitable legal challenges the Republicans will mount in the upcoming election and most likely beyond. Leftists and Republicans alike will criticize this move and point to it as an example of her ever increasing turn to corporatism and elitism. As usual, AOC is damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. In reality, we’re watching something bigger occur. AOC is meeting power where it lives and growing into the leadership role that will define the progressive impact on our politics for decades to come.
