Two types of dower are required in a real estate transaction in Alberta:
1) Listing Dower
2) Purchase Dower

Dower applies IF:
1. There is only one registered owner of the property.
2. The owner is legally married (includes separated couples not yet legally divorced but does not include common-law relationships).
3. The owner or the owner's spouse has resided on the property at any time since the marriage.
The non-titled spouse must sign these 4 documents.
