Glowing in the Dark - Andrew Garfield
I'm going to try and keep the sappiness to a minimum here guys, bear with me...
So, The Amazing Spiderman comes out tomorrow, July 3, and I'll be going to see it at midnight. As crazy as it sounds (or is), I've been waiting over a year for this movie, and it's been an incredible ride.
Anyone who's known me for any length of time knows that Andrew Garfield is my favorite actor, and he's changed my life. He's such an inspiration to me, which is so ridiculous because like... I'm not an actor, I've never even wanted to be an actor, but this guy is such so kind-hearted and grounded and humble and funny and talented that it doesn't even matter. The fact that he's, in a way, living out one of his childhood dreams is so cool, and if anyone deserves it, it's him. It's kind of surreal that over a year ago when I told people he was my favorite actor no one had any idea who he was and I'd have to explain ("Did you see The Social Network? He was Eduardo. Did you see Boy A? He was Jack. Have you seen Never Let Me Go? He played Tommy," and even still some people were clueless), and now he's about to be launched into a major franchise and when I say his name now, people know. And that's amazing to me. Plus, I'll never forget seeing him in Death of a Salesman as long as I live... It was an incredible, indescribable experience. Not only did his performance bring me to tears (multiple times!), but I was just so proud of him, and Spiderman opening is giving me the same feeling.
I've made Andrew vids before, but in this one I used all new footage (which the exception of the Comic-Con speech, because that never fails to make me cry) from the TASM press rounds. It's kind of a great time to be an Andrew fan right now, and it was so awesome to have so much new stuff to work with and still be left with more that didn't fit! Also, in the middle there's a little Death of a Salesman interlude because I will probably never stop having Death of a Salesman feels.
To conclude, I'm just gonna encourage you to go see The Amazing Spiderman. PLEASE GO. I think it's going to be phenomenal, and, if nothing else, you know that Andrew put his whole heart and soul into the part.
