Mid-2010 Mac Pro 6-core Xeon Upgrade and Repair
In this video, I repair a Mid-2010 Mac Pro 5,1 that has a weird issue with its logic board, as well as upgrade the machine to a 6-core Xeon X5690 CPU. I got this machine off eBay for $265, which is a really nice deal for one of these machines, even though it ended up only having a single-CPU tray. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage to figure out what was causing a really strange intermittent power issue with the machine's original logic board, so I ended up replacing it with a mostly functional one I got off eBay. The only issue with this board is that the internal speaker hardware doesn't work, but that's really no big deal for me since I rarely if ever use the internal speaker.
