Onion Routing is a mechanism for allowing two parties to communicate over the Internet, while retaining some degree of privacy regarding their communication. TOR, which is an acronym for "The Onion Router" is a specific implementation of the onion routing paradigm. In this first video, Sourcefire Chief Scientist, Zulfikar Ramzan, describes the privacy limitations of traditional routing and provides an introduction to Onion Routing and TOR. These topics have gotten media attention with the recent disbandment of the Silk Road marketplace, which used TOR to enhance the privacy of its users.
