Abd ar-Rahman II (792–852) was the fourth Umayyad Emir of Córdoba in the Al-Andalus Iberia from 822 until his death in 852.
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān II was the grandson of his namesake, founder of the Umayyad dynasty in Spain. His reign was an administrative turning point.
Abd al-Raḥmān carried out a vigorous policy of public works, made additions to the Great Mosque in Córdoba, and patronized poets, musicians, and men of religion.
