Sarah LIVED 127 years (Bible Study: Genesis 23)
Continuing with our biblical studies of Genesis, we cover the death of Sarah. Some believe that Sarah was far from Abraham at the time of her death. According to Jewish tradition, we also find this theory. We will address it in this study. She was the only woman whose lifetime is recorded in the Bible.
She was buried in the Cave of Machpelah, which Abraham bought from the Hittites for a fair price. This place was formerly land belonging to the giant Anakim, who were still alive at that time.
It was Caleb who, after asking Joshua for his portion of land, expelled the sons of Anak (Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai), a race of giants, from the land then called Kiriath Arba (City of Arba). Arba was the father of Anak and one of the greatest of the giants.
The Cave of Machpelah is currently a place of veneration in the Jewish religion and a tourist site open to the world. The remains of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Leah are found there; and according to Jewish tradition, the remains of Adam and Eve are also found there.
