Import Raster Image to FreeCAD and Scale It
This FreeCAD tutorial explains how to import raster image to trace over it. It also shows how to calibrate the image so that it has the correct scale in FreeCAD. There are multiple raster image formats, that can be imported to FreeCAD such as jpg, png, bmp, gif, jpeg, tga, tif, tiff, webp, webmp and other.
Apart from importing and scaling the image, the tutorial shows how to move the image, how to change the plane it is placed on, how to change the transparency or how to mirror the image.
Typical usage of raster image import is to use it as a plane or elevation view to trace a building over it, or trace a part or equipment over it. The image works as a reference for creating 3D model in FreeCAD.
