Russia, 2007. Melodrama
Director: Nadezhda Ptushkina.
The film is based on Nadezhda Ptushkina's play "Bravo, Laurencia!"
A common, often encountered situation in our feminized age: a grown-up son lives under the complete control of his loving mother. A former ballerina, an aging prima donna with traces of her former refined beauty, wishes only the best for her son. She dreams of an intelligent, kind, and loving daughter-in-law. But the trouble is, none of the potential candidates satisfy the loving mother. She begins to manipulate her son. She resorts to everything from psychological blackmail to sudden fainting spells to near-fatal illnesses. Life takes its toll: fate chooses a strong and independent woman for her son's chosen one, the complete opposite of the ideal bride created in her mother's imagination. This woman is blunt, has her own opinion on everything that happens in the family's life, and is also older than her son.
Many scenes in the film will make us smile through tears. This is a film about our dreams, about human relationships: how to build them without destroying shared trust and love...
