In this video I build a 6s9p battery using 54 18650 li-ion cells. About 24,000 photos were used to generate this timelapse.

This battery is part of a bigger battery. The full battery is 14s9p. 50.4v 23.4Ah nominal. I am using this battery on my electric bicycle and it works really well.

If you are using the proper materials and tools you don't need a spot welder to solder 18650's type cells.

I used a Hakko Fx-888 soldering station and good quality solder wire. Remember to sand the surface of the cells' electrodes before soldering as they are coated with a chemical that prevents solder to stick.
