(PSP) Rurouni Kenshin 2: Should've Been on CONSOLE! ... Overview, Clips, & Matches
An overview on combat, the game also known as Rurouni Kenshin "Saisen", and showing some fun matches. This isn't that in-depth and I'm certain that there's more to dig into here, but the bottom line is that this is a great game for Rurouni Kenshin fans.

In terms of traditional fighting games, I think this is a solid and unique outing. My only negative about this game is that it seemingly doesn't have a practice mode, which is bizarre and just about unforgiveable... but that aside it's not a complicated game to pick up at all.
The number of moves in the move-lists you can count on one hand sometimes two.
All in all it's a simple fighter with 3 custom combo stocks that you get per match which triples as borderline unblockable mixup tool & a punish tool. The movement looks slow but the dashes are incredibly fast. Especially Sojiro's dash.
Alongside the powerful offense is the defensive ability to repel strikes and potentially disarm the attacker - or punish with a God Speed activation. Similar to Budokai 3's teleport (only more unpredictable), when in God Speed mode you can teleport behind your target which the defender would then have to guess in advance which direction to block.
Some characters can counter with counter stances while others benefit from saving their speed stocks to counter the opponent's.
Beyond the gameplay lies a standard story mode which acts more like arcade mode with character specific what-if tales and occasional dialogue. Additional modes are two survival based endurance battles which'll have you in 1v1s or 1v2 against fodders.
This is a full packaged game unfortunately shackled onto the PSP in what is otherwise a great outing for Rurouni Kenshin. While lacking the obvious practice mode / Versus Mode / and limited movesets, it's a far cry from its PS1 predecessor.
