Other major international operators, such as Collins Aerospace, provide essential OEM Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services, including for the ACES II ejection seats. Thales Air Defence Limited ensures a local sovereign capability by focusing on short-range air defense missiles and high-tech security systems.
Belfast is future-proofing this industry through massive strategic investment, including the £98 million Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC), the centerpiece of the Belfast Region City Deal. This initiative encompasses the "Factory of the Future" at Global Point, which will embed Industry 4.0 principles, smart automation, and the digital thread to enable high-rate, repeatable manufacturing.
