In this art tutorial, we’ll explore how to reimagine famous masterpieces
– while keeping your own creativity at the heart of the process.
Instead of copying the great masters, we’ll learn how to use classic portraits as references, applying our own style, colours, and proportions to create something truly original.
We’ll begin with Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, experimenting with minimalist, flattened compositions and bold colour choices.
From there, we’ll reinterpret Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, showing how you can simplify shapes, play with proportions, and still create a piece that’s instantly recognisable – but uniquely yours.
Finally, we’ll take inspiration from Vincent van Gogh,
using his work only as a reference while creating a completely new version in our own voice.
