Calculating the volume of an expansion tank!
To determine the volume of an expansion tank, you need to know:
The volume of the system
The maximum water temperature in the system
The operating water pressure at the tank location
The elevation of the safety valves relative to the tank's axis
The set pressure of the valve(s)
All of this data will allow you to calculate the tank's expansion volume and its efficiency, which will ultimately be useful in determining the tank's volume.
