In this video, Master herbalist and Floracopeia founder David Crow speaks about the spiritual, medicinal and historical significance of Frankincense and Myrrh, and how they relate to the Winter Solstice.
Frankincense, one of the oldest and most revered sacred scents, was one of the gifts of the Three Wise Men. Referred to as "crystallized drops of sunlight", frankincense tears have been an important part of sacred ceremonies, solstice rituals, and other meditative rituals for thousands of years. This video explores the mystical and medicinal meanings of Frankincense and Myrrh, the season of the Return of the Light, rebirth, and Frankincense's role in and effect on human consciousness over time. Also discussed is the miracle of photosynthesis, and its spiritual relationship to human life.

David Crow is one of the world’s foremost experts and leading speakers in the field of botanical medicine and grassroots healthcare. He is a master herbalist, aromatherapist and acupuncturist with over 30 years experience and is an expert in the Ayurvedic and Chinese medical systems. David is a renowned author, a poet, and is the founding director of Floracopeia Aromatic Treasures.
During his studies in the Himalayas, Mr. Crow became aware of the widespread ecological destruction taking place in that part of the world, and the loss of medicinal plants on which the ancient medical systems depended. At the same time, he began to understand how medicinal plants were the key to solving numerous interrelated global problems: lack of healthcare, poverty, environmental destruction, and loss of ethnobotanical knowledge. Floracopeia was created as a way to help preserve and promote the use of botanical medicines as solutions to these growing problems.
Crow has presented his vision of grassroots healthcare, preservation of botanical medicines, and the use of plants for ecological restoration to hundreds of audiences, ranging from small private groups to conferences and lecture halls, to a panel discussion with the Dalai Lama broadcast internationally to millions of viewers. He has given numerous keynote speeches, taught at conferences and colleges of naturopathic, Chinese, and Ayurvedic medicine, and been interviewed on numerous radio programs.
